Columbia Lily - An Island Spirit Legacy Cache.

The Cowichan Valley Trail will take you from Duncan through Lake Cowichan and down past the Kinsol Trestle following former CN and E&N railway lines. With many access points and 8 trestles, it's a beautiful trail to walk, jog or bike. From the Island Spirit Team, we hope you enjoy your time in the Cowichan Valley.

All the Island Spirit Legacy Caches are within a 2 steps of the trail, unless otherwise noted. There is no need to bushwack or trample the vegetation.

Columbia Lily

The Columbia Lily is a flower of several names, Wild Tiger Lily among them, and is native to Western North America. They commonly grow to 3 feet in height but under favorable conditions can reach as high as 6 feet and boast a dozen or more bright orange flowers. They can be quite common on Vancouver Island, growing among salal and other low growing vegetation. Its bulbs have been used as food when dried, providing a taste that is both sweet and sour.
