Geocache Description:

Enjoy this geocache letterbox hybrid!
The coordinates take you to the Riverside Cemetery entrance sign. There are several geocaches around this area and this is to introduce letterboxing to some of you that enjoy geocaches. Please no night caching and demonstrate respect.

Begin at the coordinates at the main entry sign of the cemetery and head west to the next entrance. Once you enter the gates, go south to the pedestal marking the burial sites of Union Civil War soldiers of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR). Walk approximately 160 feet west of that monument to find this cache.

As you walk to the cache location, you will pass the gravesites of several Civil War soldiers. One of these soldiers, John Christian Adams, was born in Virginia (now West Virginia) in 1847 and enlisted in the Union Army as a drummer boy at the age of seventeen. Adams served for ten months until the end of the war. After moving to Grant County, Indiana, between 1880 and 1900, he was an active member of the GAR Post 409 in Jonesboro. At the time of his death, Adams had been the last surviving Civil War veteran in Indiana. President Harry S. Truman sent a funeral wreath to honor him.

The cache is not located on a grave. It is hidden in a traditional location at the tree line.

Please leave the rubber stamp in the container so others may use it. This stamp is not a trade item. Bring your own pen (and ink pad and stamp if you wish).

If you are not familiar with letterboxing, each letterboxer brings his or her stamp with them to find the letterbox and place his or her stamp on the log; you would also use the stamp inside the box to stamp on your personal log. You should bring your own stamp and ink pad with you.
