For those sitting sipping their Latte’s on the Whitianga waterfront this cache will be tantalisingly close. Luckily it is only a short ferry ride away, or alternatively a long drive.
Follow the shoreline to the right of the ferry wharf and you will soon find yourself on the track
Whitianga Rock, was once part of a Maori Pa that commanded the entrance to the river. There is plenty of information about this site on the path to the cache.
It’s a great place to sit and watch the ferry do battle with the current, or contemplate life in the fast lane on the other side.
May not be suitable for young children, unprotected cliff edges near cache site, and be weary of rock which gets slippery when wet.
Cache is a 1.2l Systema, accessible from the upper level at GZ.
