Geocache Description:

The Sierra Vista Cemetery is the largest cemetery in the Taos area and a few well known celebraties and local Taos people are buried here.

The early Spanish settlers established farms and ranches not far from the Taos Pueblo. Prominent among the settlers was Don Fernando de Chavez. Later the community sprouted and was soon known as Don Fernando de Taos. Then eventually it became just Fernando de Taos. Taos became a commercial and cultural center and in 1885, the name was changed to Taos. The residents of Taos are called Taosenos.

Spirit caches are a series placed at or near NM cemeteries in hopes of paying respect to the Pioneer Ancestors having "gone" on before us, and, possibly picking up a bit of history of the area.

This cache is a camo'd pill bottle placed outside the entrance.
