WO - Behind Coldwater Creek Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

WO = Wild Oasis

This section of woods is the definition of a wild oasis. Parts of this trek will be more like wildest oasis. Back in these woods you will find a respite from the business buildings nearby. These woods hold some strange sights. There are remnants of items that were obviously discarded many years ago. You may see some of these cast off items on your hike to the first stage.

This is a 5 stage multi-cache. Please note that the size pertains to the final. Stages 1 thru 4 vary in size and type. Stage 2 is a place to exchange small signature items.

OK, here is the place where we remind you what it means to be a good cacher:
Please be sure to replace all stages exactly as found to make the experience the same for the next cacher. If you turn over a log or a rock, then put it back exactly as you found it. Too many times we see beautiful woods torn apart by people looking for that difficult cache. The point is to leave the place exactly as you found it. Much time and energy has been given to make a cache what it is, but it takes only one person to destroy the site and the experience. Please keep this in mind. OK, reprimand over.

We wouldn’t be called EPAC (Evil PA Cachers) if we didn’t throw in some tricky stuff, right? Please do NOT post any logs that mention the quirks of this cache. We want every geocacher to experience it on their own. Any logs that we feel give away the secrets, will be deleted. That doesn’t mean you lose your smilie. If your log is deleted, just re-enter it without the secrets revealed!

Recommended parking coordinates have been given for this cache. Please use this parking which is a shopping center. Lots closer to stage 1 are private lots at office buildings. From the parking lot, head to the "Begin your Journey" waypoint. These coords are not an actual stage of the cache. They have been provided to make your approach more interesting, just something you don’t see often in the woods. Please don’t post a picture, so that future visitors will be surprised when they see it.

From the Begin waypoint, the first part of your hike is a very nice walk in the woods. As you approach Stage 1, you will encounter more challenging terrain in the form of wet areas and briars. The direct route is not always the best route! Round trip hike will be about 1 mile.

Please remember that these are woods and there may be hunters. Be sure to wear blaze orange in the appropriate season. During the reconnaissance for this cache, tree stands were observed in sections of these woods. Please be respectful of the hunters. There is also the potential to see fishermuggles near some of the stages.

At certain times of the year, parts of this hike may be muddy. There are areas with standing water, so be prepared to pick your way carefully if you don't want wet feet. There are a lot of briars in some sections, so if you do not like stickers, this is not the cache for you. There is also the potential for ticks.

A blue heron was spotted on the way to stage 1 while getting the coordinates for the cache. A lot of evidence of deer can be seen all over these woods. When the stages were being placed, the bluejays were scolding from the tops of the trees. Please let us know what kind of wildlife you see back here.

Enjoy this wild oasis and happy caching.
