First of a series of caches along the Hinze Dam wall. You can walk or cycle.
After the $380 million upgrade to the Gold Coast's main water supply, we were a little disappointed with the new public access areas of the Hinze Dam. Now there is nowhere to sit, eat, drink and enjoy being near or on the water. The old facilities (now underwater) were much better. The new BBQ/Picnic areas are now below the dam wall have a wonderful view of the base of the 70m high pile of rocks! When we placed this cache on a busy Sunday afternoon, there were precisely zero people using the new BBQ/picnic areas. Come on GCCC you can do better than this. Anyway rant over - we thought that a few caches along the wall would add to your enjoyment of the Hinze Dam. This is a muggle rich environment so you'll need to take care to avoid detection. The cache is well hidden but you don't need to leave the road or go over the barrier to find it. Gates are open 6am to 6pm. This is a log only cache so bring some ink.
