In the vicinity of this cache has been restored check point (Sekisyo) of the Edo period.
The purpose of this check point was to control the movement of the people between Kiga and Edo. They say that Kiga Check point was established in 1601 by Shgun leyasu Tokugawa. The check points were used to control the movement of weapons and to insure that none of the women and children left Edo.One family controlled the check point until it was abandoned in about 1889.
この関所は慶長6年(1601年)に徳川家康によって創設されたといわれている。
敷地は547坪(約1805m2)で裏に竹薮117坪(約396m2)、東側に冠木門、この門を入り正面となる北側に旅人を調べる本番所、南側に相対して牢屋が設けられていた向番所、さらにその南に遠見に使用された遠見番所、西側は町木戸門で宿場と接していました。
