Welcome to the El Dorado Trail. This series of caches are to encourage you to explore this fun area. Bring water, a snack and a friend. Please stay on the trails and remove any trash you may find. Dogs will love this area, but there may be areas where they need to be on leash. Use your best judgement and be respectful of others. Please return cache as found. High muggle area. Thanks!
You could begin this trail by parking at the park near the Train cafe, which has a terrific breakfast menu. So enjoy a nice big breakfast and then head out for a 7.5 mile hike from the cafe to Greenstone and back. If you decide to find the cache "STS-136 The Shuttle Mission that Never Was" and then continue on to "The Secret Lair of The Green Lantern" then you will pass many of these caches along the way. This section (caches 10 - 16) is a continuation of the El Dorado Trail beyond Greenstone to Missouri Flat Rd. Continuing on to caches 10 - 16 you will see more lovely valleys and some not so lovely spots but don't forget you will have a long walk back. Please keep your dog on a leash near livestock and horses. Enjoy your journey and return cache as found (or better). This is a multi-cache. It is pretty easy and if you are headed east along the tracks anyway this multi-cache will continue in that same direction. Here is a description of each stage: Stage 1: You will get to this location using the published coordinates. Once you get to this location you will need to find the 4 digit number. Use this number to fill in the missing coordinate information for the second stage after applying a little math. A = Second digit minus third digit B = First digit plus third digit C = Fourth digit minus total you had for B D = Second digit minus fourth digit check sum = 16 N 38° 40.AB5, W 120° 52.CDD are the coordinates for Stage 2. Stage 2: This is a small container near the SE corner of the structure you should be near if you have the correct coordinates. The coordinates for stage 3 are located inside this micro cache container. Stage 2 cache is currently missing again. Please use: N 38° 40.735' W 120° 52.600' Stage 3: You should now be near a power pole close to the El Dorado Trail. Approximately 7 feet above ground are numbers nailed to the pole. Use these numbers to complete the coordinates for the final location of the cache. A = First digit of 4 numbers plus the number by itself(4) on the pole. B = Sum of all 5 digits divided by 2 and subtract 1. C = First digit of the 4 numbers. D = Third digit of the 4 numbers. E = Second digit of the 4 numbers. N 38° 40.ABC W 120° 52.DEE are the coordinates for Stage 4 (final).
