Geocache Description:

A cache in Wan Tau Kok Road Playground.

Wan Tau Kok Playground is located near to the Tai Po Market Station. It's a quite secluded little park surrounded by schools and tennis grounds. From GZ you can watch people playing tennis, or when facing to your right you can see the station and the trains passing by.

At one of the entrances of the park you can find an old gate from a Tai Po Primary School which apparently was at this site. Some Chinese-only stone inscriptions flank this gate, unfortunately unreadable to me.

Nearby this park you can also find two notable historical buildings, namely the Old District Office North, now in use by the scouting organisation, and the Old Tai Po Police Station.

Cache should be an easy find but signal is quite bouncy there.

Wheelchair access is possible from Wan Tau Kok lane; the route directly from the station leads to stairs.

Tai Po new town is one of the oldest New Town developments in Hong Kong. Development started in the 1970s with the major improvement of the then KCR train services, providing fast and convenient transport services to the north-eastern New Territories.
Tai Po district has a population of just over 300,000 people, of which about 250,000 live in the urban areas and the rest lives scattered in villages around the district. The district has a remarkably rich history, having served as political and trade centres over the last centuries.
Getting around Tai Po is best done by bicycle, there are several shops renting out bicycles near Tai Po Market station, on Kwong Fuk Road and also in other parts of the town.
