Mac's Lake was created in 1939 as part of Olmstead's master plan to create an arboretum. It was one of three bodies of water that was named Cedar Lakes. The other two were Two Ponds that are near the visitors center. |

The North Cedar Lake was renamed to Mac's Lake in honor of Charles 'Mac' McClure. He was a former Executive Director of the Board of Bernheim Forest. He was married to Louisvillian Tori Murden who was best known for being the first American and first woman to row across the Atlantic Ocean. She accomplished that feat on December 3rd, of 1999 after rowing 3333 miles in 82 days. |
