Geocache Description:

Thirty two acre Lake Nevin, the largest lake at Bernheim, was impounded in 1949 as the last part of the master plan design by the Olmstead firm before Bernheim Arboretum opened for the first time to the public. The lake was named in honor of Mr. Hugh L. Nevin, former President of the Board of Trustees of Bernheim.

Most of the year the Lake Nevin is a quiet peaceful place to enjoy nature, but in August of each year Connect at Bernheim transforms the lake into a sensory experience. See the lights around the lake, hear the music from 6 groups on 3 stages, touch the science exhibits, smell the flowers in the butterfly garden, and taste the brew and burgoo. Connect starts two hours before sunset, and lasts two hours after sunset so you can experience lake Nevin before and after dark. The various light displays around the lake offers a whole new way of enjoying lake Nevin.

For more information about Bernheim Arboretum And Research Forest including current operating hours. There is no admission fee at Bernheim on Monday through Friday. On Saturday & Sunday there is a $5 fee per passenger car, or motorcycle.
