Oleta Schoolhouse
The Oleta schoolhouse was built in 1862 from local lumber donated by Hiram C. Farnham, who owned nearby timberlands and and lumber mill in Fiddletown. It replaced the first schoolhouse which opened in 1855. By 1863, many children from Fiddletown and the surrounding area, including Shenandoah Valley, were attending this school in grades one through eight. It remained in continuous operation until it was closed in 1955 and students were sent to Plymouth Elementary School. The schoolhouse was in continuous operation for 93 years.
