Map of all CCC camps in PA.

S-132, Hunts Run, PA was established on June 10, 1933, and many outstanding achievements were accomplished. By 1936, 28 miles of minor roads were constructed, 40,500 trees were planted, 55 miles of roadside cleanup, and 20 acres of forest lands were transformed into a public camp. This camp is more widely known, however, for being directly involved in a fatal fire in 1938. This camp closed in 1941. The Pepper Hill Fire of October 19, 1938, took the lives of eight boys from this camp while they were fighting a wildfire. Survivor’s Rock geocache (now archived) was near the location of a large boulder where some of the boys sought refuge to try to survive the fire. You can read about this fire on the wildfire lessons website.
