CONGRATULATION TO ROSEMARY ROMAERS ON FTF

We have not got many church micro's in the area, so I thought we thought we would set some ready for the 2012 South Wales Event - GC3A5YF

There is a carpark near to the church and a lovely picnic area. Please could you be considerate and avoid Sunday Morning when services take place.

This church is called Glwys Fair Glantaf, to difference it from Eglwys Fair a Churig, which is between Llanboidy and Glandwr. It is called Eglwys Fair because it is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. There are many fables about the church, this being one of them. Three ladies had a dream, on the same night of a strange, beautiful place on the banks of a winding river in Wales. There was a great distance between them and the blessed place, and each of the three ladies had a serious disadvantage - one was mute, one deaf and the third was blind. They believed that they would be rid of their afflictions if they undertook the journey to the place that they had dreamt about, so they could carry out their religious duties. They made their minds up to go on the journey, and eventually arrived at the place. There they went through their religious devotions with the result that the blind lady's sight was restored; the deaf lady could hear, and the mute lady could speak. As the ladies were wealthy, and had received such a great blessing, they decided to build a church on the spot, where their senses had been restored to them, as a memorial, to thank God for his goodness.

“If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats page found via the Bookmark list”
