grandad24: The guidelines for placing a geocache in Pocahontas State Park require that the cache be removed after 5 years. Today I removed this cache. A parking fee is charged to park a vehicle anywhere on the Pocahontas State Park property. Pay the fee and obtain your pass at the main entrance.
To the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and leaders that visit Pocahontas State Park, this is your easy to find cache. Of course all you Non-Scouts are welcome to seek out this cache.
The Boy Scout program started around 1907, and the Girl Scout program started around 1909. By 2008, there were over 31 million registered Scouts and 10 million registered Guides (similar to Scouts) in 218 countries.
Webelos and Brownies are the younger boys and girls in the Scouting program. As they grow older and complete certain task they move on to other levels within Scouting.
I never had the opportunity to be involved in Scouting when I was a child, but as I grow older, I am always impressed by how the Scouting program develops youth into responsible adults. I also get a big kick out of the girls selling cookies in our neighborhood (always under the watchful eye of an adult) or the boys collecting food for the local food bank. These are other examples of building childhood memories and responsible behavior.
I salute all of you boys, girls, leaders and volunteers that are involved in Scouting.
If you are going to look for this cache, you will be seeking a metal ammo box with a log book and Scout or youth friendly trade items. Don’t forget to securely close the container and hide it back just like you made the find.
