The Nairne Railway Station and adjacent Bill Joyce Park are leased by The Nairne and Districts Lions Club. The Lions have established the Park from what was once a ‘unofficial’ dumping ground. The park is named after a long term Station Master and regularly used by residents and visitors. There is a free electric BBQ and sheltered picnic tables from which to watch the passing trains. This is the rail route between Adelaide and Melbourne. The Railway Station is being maintained and slowly renovated by the Lions Club. The Lions Club and Local Girl Guides use the station as a meeting place. The park is used every Australia Day for a picnic and reaffirmation of Citizenship ceremony. Lions members attend the station and park at irregular times for maintainance and working bees so – beware of the Lions. They don’t bite!
