A nice walk with a great view of the Kootenai River
Take Hwy 37 to the Kootenai River rd just north of town (shortly after crossing the bridge) and follow to the end of the road,(about five miles or so). There is a parking area and from there a gated road. Shortly after passing the gate on the road there is a small road with a boulder blocking the middle. Just above the road is a sign for Black Eagle Rock and points the way up the trail. The rock can be seen from the trailhead.
