Geocache Description:

Located in a residential area of Granite Bay on the west side of Folsom Lake at a light-controlled intersection. Elev 430’. Moderate traffic. Do not park on Douglas, and watch for cars and muggles! Container is a camo'ed Bison tube. Unscrew the bottom section (don't drop it!), log, trade and replace. Not on Private Property.

9/20/19, once again, for the third time, the cache was muggled, has been replaced, and the coordinates readjusted. Still room for small trade items. We walk by this spot frequently and have often thought this was a good location for a dash and grab cache, although there had been another cache nearby until recently, when it was muggled. More on that later. From this location you will not see a lake, or a ridge, but from your maps you probably figured out Folsom Lake is about a half mile east. The ridge is generally south, not very high or prominent, and covered with homes (with great lake views). The best parking will be just across Mooney Rd, along the fence near the 25 speed limit sign (this is close to the corner with Douglas). A fire hydrant prevents parking on the east side of Mooney near GZ. Do not park on Douglas; it’s too narrow here, and cars zoom by if the light is open. Watch for cars as you navigate to the cache, and going back to your car! Enjoy. For visitors to this area: Folsom Lake, created in 1959, is fed by the American River which then continues about 12 miles west to join the Sacramento River. Upstream on the American, gold was discovered at Sutter’s Mill in Coloma leading to the 1849 Gold Rush. The state park there is a good caching area in a well-preserved historical setting. A portion of Folsom Lake’s water flows into the canal system that stretches to the southern reaches of our Central Valley. Special thanks to cachers “Casas” for allowing us to place our first cache here. Their nearby archived cache was for Hershey, a Chocolate Lab on their buddy list. The container for that cache was a rubber dog toy in the shape of a hot dog and bun, which they had split open to hold the log, etc. Very cool, as we’re sure Hershey was, too. For the FTF: a couple of Susan B’s (the ones from 1979). Good Luck. ((((((( Congratulations to Mischa&Jen for the FTF!)))))))
