Arbroath and Forfar Railway

The line opened in 1839 and by 1848 a portion of it was part of the main line to Aberdeen from the south, via Forfar. The line had to be re-gauged to become part of this network. The Forfar to Guthrie section of the line remained open after the closure of the line as a through route. Today a short portion of the line remains between Arbroath and St Vigeans Junction.

The bridge was build by the Arbroath and Forfar Railway company to allow farmers and workers from the nearby Letham Grange Estate to cross safely to the adjacent fields.
