Geocache Description:

A short cliff top walk

This is a well marked track along the top of the cliffs that will eventaully take you to the ruins of The Chapel of St Mary and St Nauchlan.

Great place to walk dogs with bins provided, it is a popular dog walk so beware of muggles.

The cache is placed close to the ruins of the old Battery. It was constructed for Stonehaven's Artillery Volunteers. The first company was formed in 1860 Major Alexander Innes of the nearby Cowie House was the Commanding Officer. It was finally disbanded in 1910. All that is left are 3 gun embrasures and the remains of the Powder Magazine at the south end of the Battery.

From this vantage point you get a fantastic view around Stonehaven Bay.

There are picnic tables & benches in the car park near this cache.
