Another opportunity for geocaching along the Manawatu Gorge Walkway. This takes you close to the Whitehorse Rapids Lookout where you can stop for a rest, and view the rapids as well as, to your right, the site of the massive slip that closed the main highway through the Gorge for many months, well before the slip nearer the other end that has permanently closed the Gorge road - you can see the old road below. Allow up to 30 mins to walk up from the carpark at the Ashhurst end of the Gorge. The cache contains a log sheet and a couple of little trinkets. Bring your own pen. Cautions: The lookout is a popular stopping place for muggles. GPS may be a bit unreliable under the trees.
