They say there are only two kinds of people in the world-Irish people and those that wish they were Irish. :) On Saint Patrick's Day everyone gets to be Irish for a short time and even if we can't go to Ireland for the day we can still go to a place named after County Tyrone.
Who-Anyone who is or wants to be Irish :)
What we will do-Gather at the Tyrone Community Center to sing When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, sign the log, gather some Leprechaun Treasure and disperse.
When-March 17th, 2012 at 3:17 PM
Where-Tyrone Community Center parking lot
Why-Why not!
Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and he is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland. He used the three leaves of the shamrock to represent the Holy Trinity-Father, Son and Holy Spirit. His special day is March 17th and is celebrated not just in Ireland but all over the world. One of the ways that people celebrate is by wearing green. Since cachers love all shades of green (especially on a snowy white background
) what could be more natural that gathering for a quick rendition of When Irish Eyes Are Smiling?
There may be some new caches to look for in the area to occupy some time before the event.
WHEN IRISH EYES ARE SMILING
Chorus:
When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, sure 'tis like a morn in spring.
In the lilt of Irish laughter you can hear the angels sing,
When Irish hearts are happy all the world seems bright and gay,
And When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, sure, they steal your heart away.
Verse 1:
There's a tear in your eye and I'm wondering why,
For it never should be there at all.
With such power in your smile, sure a stone you'd beguile,
And there's never a teardrop should fall,
When your sweet lilting laughter's like some fairy song
And your eyes sparkle bright as can be.
You should laugh all the while and all other times smile,
So now smile a smile for me.
(Chorus)
Verse 2:
For your smile is a part of the love in your heart,
And it makes even sunshine more bright.
Like the linnet's sweet song, crooning all the day long.
Comes your laughter so tender and light.
For the springtime of life is the best time of all,
With never a pain or regret.
While the springtime is ours, thru all of life's hours,
Let us smile each chance we get.
