In East Lyme, off Boston Post Road (Rt. 1). Available dawn to dusk. Parking for a couple of vehicles roadside. A very faint trail leads out of the picnic area up the hill, but vegetation is not too dense leading up to the cache.
While driving by recently, I noticed a brown sign, so stopped to take a look. This little parcel is an East Lyme Recreation Area and was developed by a local Eagle scout. The dam is Plants Dam, after which a local road is named. The dam backs up the Four Mile River, which flows down from the Grassy Hill Road area, through Goodwins Pond, and empties into Long Island Sound by Rocky Neck State Park. No official kayak launch, but wouldn't be too difficult to throw a boat in and explore the pond. Who knows, there may even be some fish in here! Enjoy this nice spot!
