The Maricopa Trail (MT) is a project in the making, when completed, will connect all ten county parks in Maricopa County. The non-motorized trail will be 242 miles in length and projected to be completed in 2014.
A section of trail has been completed between Sun Valley Parkway and Highway 60 (Grand Avenue). The coordinates for parking near the trailhead by Highway 60 is N33 degrees 41.106 and W112 degrees 24.714. The trail heading south is just a short distance west of here.
I am placing caches in one-mile intervals and would invite others to add caches in between. I ask that, if you place a cache along the trail, please include the name or initials (MT) in your title so geocacher's realize they are on the Maricopa Trail.
You could get to these caches along this trail by shorter routes but keep in mind your are on State Trusy rainst Lands that require a permit if you choose to take a shortcut by vehicle. I know that some areas on Trust Lands are closed to motorized vehicles and you are not allowed to drive on the Maricopa Trail.
Had to move this cache to higher ground because the old spot is under water during heavy rains.
Campykestral & srladybug were FTF on this one. Surprised, congrat.
