In March 2005 the ironically named "Mount Beckwith" cache was published. To reach it you traveled down the x-country ski trail that begins near these co-ordinates to the GZ in the Goodwood Marsh. But when the spring thaw arrived the Goodwood Marsh lived up to its name, the first 500 meters of the trail was just an impossible swamp! I found it in June 2005, making my way through that swamp to the 'good' part of the trail and finding the cache about a kilometer from the trailhead. Then in November of 2005, after a summer when nobody had attempted the cache because of the swamp the cacheowner finally moved the cache so people could avoid the swamp crossing. Remember that back in those days one could change the co-ordinates of a cache without any help from a reviewer, no matter what the distance.
I found the cache again in February of 2006 with Mattawa, no trouble at all this time, both because of the change in season and in location; one of the few caches I've found twice. "Mount Beckwith" was finally archived in 2008.
To find "A Little Birdie on Mount Beckwith" you'll have to first locate the old "Mount Beckwith Cache", then project from that location 204 meters at 008° True. The area can be wet, so wear your wellies!
The cache contains only a logbook and a stamp. The stamp is not a trade item, please leave it for the next cachers.
