Northwest Park is home to soccer, cross country running and skiing, snow shoeing, mountain biking, hiking, maple sugaring, animal barning, nature centering, tobacco museuming, boating, fishing, picnicing and more!
You are looking for a small cylinder, about two and a half inches tall and one and a half inches around. If the park is crowded, stealth may be necessary - if it is summer - there will be plenty of thorn bushes blocking the view from the trail. Watch out for mud, poison ivy, prickers and ticks. The fish in the Farmington River should not be a problem.
When I placed this cache, the water was ankle deep on the shallow side and knee deep on the wet side. The high water line on the tree was only 12 inches below the cache. I really thought this one would stay wet all year long with the bog nearby. There is another stump about 15 feet away that was completely under water. The area dried up quite a bit in the Summer.
This cache is more difficult in late winter and early spring, which is reflected in the D/T rating. In the late Spring and Summer it is easier, I will continue to watch and see what the terrain is like in the Fall and Winter. Enjoy and cache safely!
