This cache has been archived.

Dalesman:
This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not responded to my note I am archiving it.

Guidelines:**You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing.**

If you wish to contact me about this cache please use my Email address below my signature and quote the GC number of the cache. Please note this system is not infallible and I may miss any such mail.

Many thanks,

Geocache Description:

A quick cache and dash or a stroll in the park, you decide. Parking is available behind the petrol station on several streets just obey the parking rules!!! Most is for a maximum of four hours if you dont have a permit. Cache is of the micro magnetic variety with only a log book so bring a pencil.

I work very close to this spot and walk past it on my lunchtime walk daily and have wanted to place a cache for sometime.

Leazes Park was the 1st public park on Tyneside. It was open by Alderman Sir Charles Hamond on 23rd December 1873 (our birthday only 104 yrs earlier!!!!)It was created on the line of the Lort Burn and focused around the Lake area, the Bandstand and Terrace were added later. The Grand Jubilee Gates were added for the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897.

On the 19th April 2001 the Leazes Park Restoration Project was approved with a grant of £3.7 million to restore the park. It now has a childrens play area, wildlife garden, lake which popular with fisherman, tennis courts and hosts the Green Festival and Northern Pride in July each year.
