Geocache Description:

This Educational Event (EduVent) is brought to you by the members of: GeocacheAlaska!

Working hard to promote Geocaching in Alaska! Please join us today!

Meet fellow geocachers and learn all about the world of Geocaching from experienced geocachers on Thursday, March 15, beginning at 6:45 p.m., at the BP Energy Center, 900 E. Benson Blvd. (Click for map.)

Tonight's speaker is a seasoned Geocacher with over 7,999 finds and 138 hides. He owns 250 Trackables and has Moved or Discovered another 2,483 Trackable items. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors for GeocacheAlaska! and has been instrumental in securing land use permits with many local Park lands. He even knows a thing or two about rabbits. We welcome cavyguy to the podium, where he will be delivering a fast-paced Geocaching presentation that is perfect for both new and old Geocachers.

Some of the topics to be discussed at this EduVent include:

  • What are Trackables?
  • Types of Trackable Items
  • Owning Trackables
  • Moving Trackables
  • Discovering Trackables
  • Trackables Tips

This event will be carried live over the internet via WebEx! Contact us immediately if you can host a remote site session. GeocacheAlaska members who cannot attend an event site can link in remotely. Contact us for instructions on how to do so.

Please post a "Will Attend" log on this event page to stay appraised of the final details. If we need to make any announcements about this event, all registered attendees will automatically receive an email copy of those announcements via the email you have registered with your account. Adding a "Will Attend" log to this page will also assure enough hard copy handouts are printed for the event participants.

Please arrive on time so upfront administrative details can be handled and announcements made, allowing the course content to start precisely at 7:00 p.m. (or 1900hrs if you prefer). Also, please bring your favorite nonalcoholic beverage and a dessert to share with your fellow cachers.

There will be a free-will offering cache container at the event to help defray the costs of hosting these FUNdamentals events if you would like to make a donation. The GeAK Store will be available onsite immediately after the presentation. You may purchase items from our line of GxProxy gear as well as official GroundSpeak merchandise.

If you have requests for EduVent topics, have a topic that you would like to present to the Alaskan geocaching community, or would like to host future presentations like this one elsewhere in Alaska, please contact Education Committee Chair and GeAK WebMaster, SSO JOAT.
