Torghatten
Er et fjell som ligger like utenfor Brønnøysund ved kysten. Fjellet strekker seg 258 meter over havet og er kjent for et stort hull som går tvers igjennom fjellet.
Hullet er 160 meter langt, 35 meter høyt og 20 meter brett. Fjellet har fått sitt navn fra navnet på øya Torget og at formen ligner på en hatt.
For ca 2000 år siden lå enden av innlandsisen langs Norskekysten, over området her var isen omlag 1000 meter tykk. Da isen gikk bort fra Torghatten trykket den ned jordskorpen ned ca 100 meter, dette kan man se pga rullesteinsfjære på nordsiden av hullet som er på denne høyden og vitner om et stormfullt hav slått inn her. I hulen og opp mot hullet er det funnet skuringssstriper.
I og rundt Torghatten er det også en rekke andre geologiske severdigheter som huler, jettegryter, flyttblokker, isskuring og rullesteinsområder. I disse gamle strandvollene av rullestein er det mange steinalderboplasser. Disse kan ”dateres” ut fra havstandens historiske nivå. Her ved Torghatten møter vi også den første skrevne Norgeshistorie – på Torgar, ved inngangen til vikingtid og samlingen av Norge.
Torghatten gir også et viktig innblikk i landets utvikling i tidligere geologiske perioder. ”Hatten” utgjør sentrum av et område som har rikelige og lett lesbare vitnesbyrd i berggrunnen på landhevninger og havnivåstigninger som skjedde for nesten 500 millioner år siden, samt tydelige spor etter kontinentkollisjoner som førte til dannelsen av den kaledonske fjellkjeden.
Oppgaver

2. Hvorfor har det blitt et hull her, og hva er årsaken til at det ikke er en dal?
3. Inni hulen finner du en lang tre-trapp, hvor mange trinn er det i den nederste delen?
4. Gå inn i hulen og undersøk hulerommet, det varierer i størrelse, hvorfor er det slik?
5. Frivillig oppgave: Legg ved det eller de fineste bildene du tok på turen(husk å ikke legge ved spoilerbilder).

Torghatten
Is a mountain just outside Brønnøysund at the coast. The mountain stretches 258 meters above sea level and is known for a large hole that goes right through the mountain.
The hole is 160 meters long, 35 meters high and 20 meters in width. The mountain got its name from the name of the island "Torget" and that the shape resembles a hat.
For about 2000 years ago at the end of the ice along the Norwegian coast, the area had ice with about 1,000 meters thick. When the ice went away from Torghatten it pressed down the crust down about 100 meters of the surfice, this can be seen due to the pebble beach on the north side of the hole that is at this altitude, bearing witness to a stormy sea turned in here.
In and around Torghatten are also a number of other geological attractions such as caves, potholes, move blocks, and pebble areas. In the old ramparts of the pebble beach, it was many Stoneage settlements. These can be "dated" from the histori of the sealevle. Here at Torghatten we also meet the first written history Norway
Torghatten also provides an important insight into the country's development in the geological past. "Cap" is the center of an area that has abundant and easy to read testimony into the bedrock of uplift tests and sea level rises which occurred nearly 500 million years ago, and clear evidence of continental collisions that led to the formation of the Caledonian mountain chain.

2. Why is there a hole here, and why not a valley?
3. Inside the cave you will find a long wooden staircase, how many steps are there in the lower part?
4. Enter the cave and chech out the room inside, why dos the hole varies i size inside?
5. Optional task: Attach the finest pictures you took on your trip (remember not to post spoiler pictures).
