Geocache Description:

Cougar coloring is typically tawny, with lighter patches on the underbody. Kittens are spotted and born with blue eyes and rings on their tails. Solitary by nature and nocturnal, mountain lions are excellent stalk-and-ambush predators; pursuing a wide variety of prey including mule deer, rabbits, and rodents.Mountain lions prefer habitats with dense underbrush and rocky areas for stalking, but can also live in open areas. Cougars are slender and agile members of the cat family. Adults stand about 36 inches tall at the shoulders, measure between 7 - 9 feet long nose-to-tail, and typically weigh 90 to 200 lbs. Adult mountian lions are generally wary of people and try to avoid contact. In the rare case of an encounter, face the lion, back away slowly, be large and shout; keep children close and pick them up without bending. If attacked, fight back.
