Geocache Description:

On the Crabtree Cross-country ski trail. A test strip container hidden in a likely spot. In Winter conditions this is snowshoe or ski accessible only. In Spring and Summer it could almost be a park and grab if your vehicle can handle dirt roads.

With crowded conditions, expensive lift tickets and equipment rentals I have pretty much given up Alpine skiing. For under $20 at the thrift store I was able to get skis, poles and Merrell boots for Nordic (cross-country) skiing. My dog can go with me and she loves it. We have skied the campgrounds at Pinecrest but the Crabtree Trail offers a little more challenge while being suited to my ability level. Start from the listed parking area. At Crabtree Rd. go straight across for the shortest access or right on the road for a longer trek. The trail makes a loop if you're up for a 4-5 mile trek with a 250-foot elevation change.
