Geocache Description:

This is a hide at the site of a helicopter crash that took place on August 12, 1994 in which the pilot and two passengers lost their lives.

I was a child at the time, and can still recall hearing a loud noise over our house and peeking out the back door to see a very low-flying aircraft making strange sounds fly overhead. It must have crashed seconds later, but we did not find out about it until the next day when emergency vehicles were swarming the roads. My parents recall hearing that the two passengers were wealthy South American diplomats on their way to meetings in Atlantic City. The trail in was made by the rescue squad, but has since been turned into a dirtbike trail. I was able to drive to the cache site in my SUV, but the trail is very windy and has lots of ups and downs. It would be a decent mile hike by foot from the trailhead coords posted below. I also posted the crash site coords which are only 100ft or so from GZ. The site itself is a shame: beer bottles and trash strewn about. I wish I had a garbage bag with me to clear some stuff out when I placed the cache. Maybe if you're willing to bring one along you could CITO in respect of those who lost their lives here. I would recommend wearing orange during hunting seasons, you'll notice tree stands on the trail in. Container is about the size of a thermos, and can fit many collectibles. Travel bug for the FTF!
