Geocache Description:

Bring your own pen. The playground area south of the elementary school, closest to and across from St. Anthony's church, is one of the City of Follansbee ward playgrounds. Follansbee officials are aware that I am placing caches in the ward playgrounds. Each playground has a sign listing the park rules. Please be respectful of these rules, remain in the city playground area, and avoid going onto the elementary school property.

I attended 1st grade at Jefferson School. At that time there was a much older building the corner property and the main entrance faced Alleghany Street. Mrs. Jackson was my first teacher, and I can still picture her telling our class that President Kennedy had been shot. The bell from the orignial Jefferson Elementary School is on display in the Follansbee Park. The original Jefferson school building has been gone for many years.
