I have many caches along this trail, and have noticed it's in need of some love. Event Starts at 8 a.m. and will end at 11 a.m. Hopefully it will be drier this time!
A very big thanks to Keep Indianapolis Beautiful for your generous donation of bags and gloves!
At the end of the event, the collected trash will be dropped at a soon to be determined drop area.
We will meet in the parking area at the listed coordinates at 8:00 a.m. and the event will end at 11:00a.m.
At the start of the event, we will break into teams and take the trail in sections. This will make it easier to cover the trail, and nobody has to hike 7 miles unless they want to!
A classic parkway – winding road, wide forested corridor – is home to the original Fall Creek Trail. Because the trail's alignment follows the historic George Kessler Boulevard Plan, it parallels the waterway, passing beautiful, century-old bridges and established neighborhoods. It is a quiet pathway, often brushing against the creek. The Fall Creek Trail is Indy's vintage greenway and will eventually connect downtown Indianapolis with northeast Marion County.
The Fall Creek Trail runs 6.9 miles from Skiles Test Nature Park to the Monon Rail Trail. Users of the Fall Creek Trail can travel from 38th Street northeast to Fall Creek Road without stopping to cross a street. The corridor provides many opportunities for viewing and interacting with nature through three canoe launches and numerous overlooks. To the northeast, the Upper Fall Creek Loop Trail is a separate section along Fall Creek Road, just south of 79th Street. This 1.5-mile trail is surfaced with crushed limestone, ideal for walking and jogging. It loops a long, narrow overflow pond for Fall Creek, so its eastern shore section sometimes floods during and after heavy rainfall. Plans call for the Fall Creek Trail to extend that far north, making the 79th Street Upper Fall Creek Loop Trail a northern terminus.
