The final is Fishing Fun Final
The earthquakes Christchurch has suffered from since 2010 onwards have also affected the waterways of the area, destroying habitat needed for our native fish. Each cache will take you to a waterway, or a water-themed street.
Bullies
New Zealand has a number of different types of Bullies, like the Bluegill bully that has leopard-like spots on its cheeks and a distinctive blue gill membrane, or the Redfin, where males are beautifully coloured with bright orange-red fins, but we will look at the common bully.
Common bullies like the gentle flow of a slow moving stream/river. Despite the camoflague their colouring gives them, they can often be seen darting in the shallows during the day. They have nests where the male fish guard the eggs until they hatch and head out to sea. After a few months the hatchlings return to freshwater. Sometimes young can’t do this as their habitat becomes landlocked, and they live their whole lives without ever visiting the ocean.
