Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Whittlesea Cache In Trash Out Event
We all like our caching to take place in clean and tidy surroundings so, to coincide with Groundspeak’s Official CITO Weekend 21/22 April 2012 we are organising a special Cache In Trash Out Event. This is a rare chance to add this special cache icon to your list of finds.

Who

Everyone is welcome to come along, especially if you have never been to an event cache before. There will be tasks for all ability levels, so don't let that worry you. And remember the idea is to have FUN too, not just to work!

When

Saturday 21st April 2012

Time

10 am until 12 noon

What

The CITO cachers will litterpick from the layby towards Pondersbridge while the Whittlesea Street Priders continue their work at the Gateway project.

Whittlesea Street Pride Website

The Whittlesea Street Pride Team consists of around 40 local residents who make their local area a cleaner, safer and more attractive place to live by taking part in activities from litter picks, bulb planting and general maintenance of the gateway projects. This year alone (up to 11th March 2012) they have given 157 hours of their time and:
  • Collected 143 bags of rubbish
  • Removed 1500kg of rubbish
  • Planted 28,000 daffodil bulbs

Health and Safety

A member of the Street Pride team will provide a safety briefing at the start of the day.
This event will take place next to a road, that can get busy, so may not be suitable for very young cachers, if you bring any children with you, they will be your responsibility at all times.

Remember, as always, you cache at your own risk.

Footwear/Clothing

The Street Pride team are able to provide a number of hi-viz jackets, however if you are able to bring your own that would be great!
It goes without saying that old clothes and sensible shoes or boots will be the order of the day, maybe even wellies. Work or gardening gloves will be provided but again, if you have your own please bring them along.

Facilities

Refreshments in the form of tea/coffee and a bacon or sausage sarnie will be available from 9:30. Please can vegatarians and fussy eaters let us know and we'll provide something for you too.
There are no toilets at the event site, but there are public toilets in Whittlesea town centre.

Many thanks to the Whittlesea Street Pride Team for their help and support in organising this event.
