Geocache Description:

This cache should be a fairly easy P & G. It is near a Texas Historical marker. Plenty of parking is available.

The Palmetto pilings are the remains of the Boca Chica Crossing of the railroad from Boca Chica inlet to White's Ranch on the Rio Grande. The cypress piling 1,000 north of the marker are what remain of a floating bridge constructed by General Zachary Taylor in 1846, as a part of the road from Brazos Santiago to the White Ranch Landing and Clarksville on the Rio Grande. It was used for transportation of military supplies.

The cache container holds a log book, pencil and some small swag. Please replace exactly as you find it.
