Geocache Description:

Welcome to the "Waters of the Humber" cache set, all being either near the Humber or waterways associated to it. This is the third in the set at Barton Beck. There is part of the final cache's co-ordinates inside the container along with a log book and pen. Care is needed when visiting the cache as it is overlooked by offices in the Old Vicarage opposite.

To most people who don't know the area this will seem an unusual location for this set as it is neither near the Humber or a waterway. Until the middle of the last century several artesian springs fed into the Beck making it a natural pond. These have now all but dried up as the water table height has been lowered and only show after heavy rainfall. The water from the Beck goes underground along Pasture Road joining with a drain at the corner of Pasture Road and Butts Road which, in turn, feeds into the Barton Haven near to the railway station.
