Geocache Description:

The community of Ben Clare is now a ghost town.

In 1884, some early pioneers of the community that came to be known as Ben Clare, met for the purposes of setting up a Sunday School program.

Mr. Ezeria Crane volunteered to be Superintendent and that same year, Rev. H. B. Green, a Methodist preached alternative Sundays in the school house. This was the beginning of the Ben Clare Church.

In 1893, the process of building a church building began but financial woes hit the members and payments for the lumber were difficult to meet.

The church was completed in the fall of 1893 and was not dedicated until January 12, 1894.
