This virtual geocache is an active cache between 9AM and noon on Sunday mornings when it is "hidden" as a medium sized green bag with a logbook and some goodies, hanging in the dugout (usually on the first base line) at the softball field while a game goes on out on the field. You can log the cache and then watch or play in our softball game if you'd like. As a virtual cache, you will need to identify what the abbreviation LWCF on a plaque on the fence at the cache coordinates stands for. Please send me an e-mail at jscotti@pirl.lpl.arizona.edu with your identification of the abbreviation and then log your visit. On Sunday morning, simply sign the logbook and then log your visit.
We have an informal group of players gather for some softball fun nearly every Sunday morning at the main Freedom Park softball field (on the north side of the park near 29th street). If you'd like to play, don't worry about how long it's been since you last played softball, just bring your glove out and have some fun! We don't even count balls and strikes in these games.
Occasionally the field will be occupied by another group, so in those cases, we usually move to a field to the southeast at coordinates N32 11.856 W110 53.146. Given the vagaries of weather and the number of people who show up or when we may finish playing, there may be times that we may not be there on Sunday morning when you arrive. We meet between about 9AM and 9:30 to loosen up before choosing teams and starting a game or just doing some batting practice if there aren't enough players for a game. We usually finish playing between 11:30 and 12:00. To be most likely to catch us, visit between 9:30 and 11:30.
