Mulock Estate Renewed Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Kata_Tjuta: After the recent DNFs I went to check on the cache and could not find it, a bit of tree trimming was probably to blame. It has had a good run so lets open this spot up.

Geocache Description:

Near the site of my first ever find

This cache is situated next to a well known historical site in Newmarket known as the Mulock Estate.

The existing residence was built c. 1870. In 1881 it was purchased and enlarged by Sir William Mulock as a country home. Sir William was raised and educated in Newmarket and later became the Post Master General of Canada 1896-1905. He then became the Minister of Labour and later Chief Justice of Ontario 1927-1936. He died in October 1944 at the age of 101 years. The grandson, W.P Mulock inherited the estate and the house. It was renovated and again enlarged. In the 1990’s the farm was sold to subdivide but the house on Yonge was retained by the family.

It is located in a small park in a residential neighborhood. From here, you can see what is left of the Mulock Estate. The house itself is set back from Yonge Street and is surrounded by trees. It may be hard to see, especially in the summertime. If you look carefully, you can see the birdhouse condo.
