Geocache Description:

Following on from "Is this diamond forever?" you may want to continue your way further up the hill to the highest point. Here there's a trig point (三角測量站). The cache is along the nearby pathway. Cache contains a Munzee and a small magnet.

Gallipoli Lines used to be a British Army Barracks (named after a famous WW1 battle) which has since been occupied by the PLA since Hong Kong reverted to Chinese rule in 1997. It covers quite a large area and includes a live firing range which can been seen by walking up the rough track just off the path.

The cache is located just below the highest part of the hill back on the main pathway. There are spectacular 360 degree views of the Hong Kong/China border and the surrounding New Territories (smog permitting!).

Note that if you see red flags hoisted you should not try to continue along the path as a live firing excercise is in progress. The cache is outside the exclusion zone and if you don't want to re-trace your steps there is a rugged path which eventually leads down hill coming out near the entrance to the firing range. The path also branches off at one point and leads directly down onto the range but do not take this branch when the red flags are hoisted. Other times the range is open to the public and people often go there to try their mountain bike skills on some of the dirt paths or fly their model aircraft.

If you go down onto the range you can either go out by the exit nearest the foot of the hill which will lead to Siu Hang Village and onto Kan Lung Walled Village before leading back onto the Sha Tau Kok Road where you can find buses and taxis to go back to Fanling Station or just walk if you still have the energy!

Alternatively you can walk right across the range and find the exit road at the far rear end. Follow the dirt path past the Chinese graves and out onto the bridge which takes you across the Ng Tung River and into Sheung Shui.
