One - Tink-A-Tank Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Think Visual: Regrettably it is time for this series to bite the dust - on closer inspection all the caches could do with being replaced so we have taken the decision to archive the series, especially as we are no longer living close to the area. Thanks to all those who have visited and left kind comments over the 3 years they have been in place. Happy geocaching one and all!

Geocache Description:

This is a 2.5 mile walk starting from Leek Wootton Village Hall car park (free).
The co-ordinates for the car park are N 52° 19.197’ W 001° 34.599’
The walk is mainly along public footpaths but includes a short stretch along the Warwick Road, which has a tarmac footpath. Please take care crossing this road as it can get busy, especially at peak times.
The route includes two short flights of steps, three kissing gates and one stile.

The footpaths are regularly used by dog walkers so please keep a watchful eye open for muggles – the difficulty rating of these caches takes this into account.
The cache title should help identify where to look but an additional hint is also provided.

This is the first cache in a series of eight. Due to tree cover GPS signal may not give an accurate position.

Point of Interest
The latter part of the village name Leek Wootton is Saxon, from ‘wudu’ or wood, with the addition of ‘tun’ meaning enclosure or homestead, but there is no known explanation for the use of the word Leek which appears to have come into use in about 13th century.

Directions
From the car park head in a westerly direction across the recreation field towards the children’s playground and the Sports Club. Walk to the left of the wooden Sports Club building and then turn almost immediately left to pass lock up garages on your right. This takes you into Quarry Close. Turn right into Quarry Close, then immediately left into an unmade road. This leads to Woodcote Lane. Climb the steps on the opposite side of Woodcote Lane, this is the start of the path known locally as the Tink-A-Tank.
