Hemlock lake is now part of the Hemlock-Canadice State Forest that is maintained by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. To learn about the opportunities available in this area visit http://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/66521.html (This is the related web page above.) This website will also provide you with the regulations governing the use of this area.

This cache has been placed so that you can enjoy a wilderness experience that has been permanently protected by the state of New York. You can hike to the cache along the western shore in times of low water and the round trip distance is approximately three miles. Check the above DEC website for trails in the area and other possible approaches.

You may also paddle to this cache from the north boat launch located on the eastern side of the lake. The straight line paddle is about 1.3 miles round trip, but once you are on the water, I am sure you will want to enjoy a longer stay. There is no FTF prize. The prize is just to enjoy this wilderness setting.
