The first stop on the New Paltz Trilogy takes you just outside of the town limits of New Paltz, just off RT 32 in the Town of Esopus.
Here you will find a historic structure that holds the distinction of being New York's _______ oldest covered bridge. Fill in the blank and the name of the bridge and the year it was built and you have found this cache.
While you are here check out just beyond the otherside of the bridge that other bridge over there and the cars going past at 65 MPH plus is you guessed it the NY Thruway. You can almost walk to the spot where history touches.
While the Wallkill River flows like the Nile along its entire lenght this also happens to be just a nice spot to quietly reflect on the number of rivers in the world that flow North. Feel free to add names of other rivers in your logs, but the answer to the bridge question should only be emailed to me.
When you are done admiring the area, get back onto RT 32 and head towards New Paltz for part two.
