The Woofs love the BCF, as do our Real Woofs! The Toy caches are not traditional cache containers and will have a different appearance. Some of the containers require the use of Tweezers to exact the logs. Please try to replace as found. Thank you and have fun with the series!
Gracie is a white and orange Brittany. She was born in Kentucky and was barely 5 months old when winter came. She lived her first 15 months outside. The following November her owner gave her to a concerned neighbor that arranged for Gracie to become a foster with American Brittany Rescue in Columbus, Ohio.
Gracie has learned to receive affection and to give it; however, she does retain a habit of sucking on pillows to comfort herself. She has 2 pillows that are hers, but will occassionally seek my goose down pillow. We attribute that to her puppy days in Kentucky, perhaps she was taken from her litter too young. Thus the title of the cache.
Gracie was brave to travel from Columbus, Ohio to the Travel Plaza at Kennebunk. She climbed in each of the 19 vehicles that transported her to us. Gracie is a "forever puppy" as most Brittany owners will attest. If you are looking for a great family dog, Brittanys have a heart of gold.
This cache is dedicated to all the volunteers that work to help dogs such as Gracie have a better life.
Update:
It is with sorrowful hearts that this message is written. Our beloved Gracie was attacked and killed by a fisher in her own fenced in yard on February 13, 2013. Only moments before Gracie was making angels in the snow. The attack was ultimate and the vet said Gracie died instantly from the bite to the throat. We found her in a pool of her blood soaked in the snow. Emma was crouched washing her face. We've since come to realize Gracie unselfishly sacrificed herself to save Emma. Emma had a bite on her shoulder and many claw marks on her tummy. We live intown, have a fenced-in yard, and this happened within 3' of our deck in silence. We are heartbroken to have lost our Gracie. One of the original 3Woofs. We had 7 fabulous years with Ms "Gracie Goo Face" as her foster mom called her. What an awesome girl! But aren't all Brittanys awesome!?!
This note is so difficult to write, but in her legacy we want you to know that fishers can climb trees and fences, that our beloved pets are not safe alone even after we do all we think has been done to protect them and keep them safe. Gracie is gone but not forgotten. She was adopted with love and gave love even in her last act of courage. Brittanys Always, 3Woofs
