Terrain is rated a 3 only because you will have to find parking if you go on a weekday, between 9am and 6pm. Rest of the time rated a 1.
You are now on the campus of the State University of New York. You are looking for a building with "Tower" in the name. You find the exact title of the tower and this cache is yours!
Wait you aren't done yet! Go inside and email me the number of floors this tower has. If the building is closed email me with the number of floors you count from the outside. (Don't post your answers here, even if encrypted.) This tower has been rumored as being the tallest building on this side of the Hudson River between New York City and Albany. It's hard to say, but if you take the elevator to the top floor and look out the public windows what a view of the mountains!
Just an interesting fact about this place, back in the day when DDT almost wiped out the native Peregrine Falcon population, a biology professor from New Paltz, Dr. Hienz Meng, set out to save them. He was able to hatch falcons in captivity and he would then released them back into the wild from the roof of this tower. Some of his falcons have been recorded nesting in NYC, and there has since been a steady increase in their population.
By the way don't follow the topomap it is from 1957 and
RT 32 does not run through the middle of this building.
So that ends the New Paltz Virtual Trilogy. Look for some traditional caches to be placed this summer.
