Bailey Hill Lost Cemetery Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

isht kinta: Since the cache owner has not responded to my reviewer log about the cache, nor did they post a note to the cache page telling me and others of their intention to address the issue with it, the cache has been archived.

Some time ago, I posted a note to the cache page requesting the cache owner to post a response on what they were planning to do with the cache. I have no record of a response, and no response tells me that they are not planning on replacing or repairing this cache. If I am wrong with that assumption, please let me know promptly. I can always unarchive the cache for you if needed.

Geocache Description:

Thanks goes out to Amagrud for replacement of the container. Thanks goes out to Clayton454 for the container and help in finding the right area.

THIS IS NOT A NIGHT CACHE, DAY TIME ONLY!!!

I have had my eye on this spot for years, Clayton454 and I went out to try and find the spot, and we did. (There is a spot on the fence you can cross over).

From what I understand this hill was used by the Union Army in the Civil War (Battle of Jackson) as an artillery Battery that could fire on Confederate forces located at what we call today Battle Filed Park on the corner of HWY 80 and Terry road. We saw grave sites for WWI and WWII Vets plus many unmarked sunken grave sites. If anyone has more information on this site, please email me and I will post...

On your trek to GZ you will encounter some pretty overgrown terrain and the tree cover is also pretty dense, so your GPS reception might be affected. Remember you are entering a burial site, although it is little known and completely neglected, maintain respect for these resting souls. Along the way you can expect to encounter multiple depressions in the ground which is without doubt grave sites, many, actually most are without a marker, just be careful and don’t fall in where these souls are resting. There are also fallen trees to either cross or navigate around, oh, and did I mention briars? Yep, they’re there too, some great big ones. Probably redbugs, ticks and those ever present skeeters, and keep a watchful eye out for those no-neck ground crawlers, and as always while in South Jackson, maintain situational awareness, and take a wingman with you, and NO, absolutely do not hunt this at night. If you come up on a very sudden terrain change…like a major drop-off, you’ve gone too far, turn around, don’t go down there. There is at least one WWI Veteran buried here along with some WWII Veterans. I was expecting to see CSA Veterans as well but was not able to identify any from that era.
