Geocache Description:

PLEASE READ

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates.

After you spot this cache, expect to spend at least 45 minutes accessing the log. If you get frustrated easily, then consider skipping this cache.

No undue force or tools are needed to find the log, so leave your screwdrivers, crowbars, and chainsaws behind. Bring your wits instead. Please don’t mark or damage any of the containers.

You must sign this cache’s log sheet (inside the micro) before you can log an online “Found it.”

The park is closed between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. No dogs are allowed.

The Desk Puzzle

To solve this puzzle, you must complete four mazes. At the end of each maze, you’ll determine a number. Plug these four numbers into the formula (found below the fourth maze) to calculate this cache’s actual coordinates.

Maze #1: No Left Turns

Simply go from “Start” to “End” without making any left turns or U-turns. How hard can it be?

A = Minimum number of right turns required to get from “Start” to “End.”

Maze #2: Alternating Colours

Go from “Start” to “End.”

If you pass through a red dot, then the next dot you pass through must be black. Similarly, after encountering a black dot, your next dot must be red. No U-turns allowed.

B = Minimum total times you pass through dots getting from “Start” to “End.” (Passing through the same dot multiple times increments your total count multiple times.)

Maze #3: Forward

Your goal is to move from the red dot to the black star.

You must move north, south, east, or west. Once you move in a direction, you must continue in that direction until you hit a barrier. At that point, you can pick a new direction and go straight ahead until you reach another barrier. And so on.

C = Minimum number of right-angle (90°) turns required to get from the red dot to the black star.

Maze #4: Tiles

Once again, you must go from “Start” to “End.”

Move north, south, east, or west, landing on exactly three tiles of the same colour and then switching to exactly three tiles of a different colour. It’s okay to visit the same tile multiple times, but U-turns are not allowed. Your final move will be from a third magenta tile to the pink “End” tile.

For example: Pink (Start), green, green, green, cyan, cyan, cyan,...magenta, magenta, magenta, pink (End).

D = Minimum number of right-angle (90°) turns needed to get from the “Start” tile to the “End” tile. (Don’t forget to count the turns near the “Start” and “End” tiles.)

Well done! Now you just need to perform some easy mathematics.

E = (19 * A) + (9 * B) + (5 * C) + (4 * D) + 5

F = (9 * (A + B + C + D)) - 6

Final coordinates: N51° 01.E’ W114° 00.F’

The Field Puzzles

At the final coordinates, you’ll find a cache. Its size is rather odd, for there’s a large container, a regular container, and a small container. The small one holds a few tradeables, two pencils, and a micro container (which has the log).

These four containers are nestled inside each other like layers of an onion. Your task is to open all the containers.

Most people are taking at least 60 minutes to access the log. Do you get frustrated easily? If so, then consider skipping this cache.

You won’t need to apply any undue force or use any tools to find the log…no screwdrivers, hammers, or wrenches. Your brain and some curiosity will suffice. Please don’t mark or damage any of the containers.

If all goes well, then you should savour the sweet taste of several Eureka! moments while accessing this cache.

Congratulations to peanutbutterbreadandjam and Jam_Packed_Cat for being the first to find this cache.
