Geocache Description:

Located at Rokeby Lock. Parking area available. Cache is a tupperware container close to size of ammo box.

Another of the lock system on the Muskingham River. One of the 11 locks. Still in operation and used by recreational boaters for a fee. Located along Route 60 south of Zanesville and north of McConnellsville at Rokeby. There is a historical marker here with this Inscription. The Muskingum River Improvement, started in 1837, played a key role in economic development of the Greater Ohio River Valley as one of the nation's first complete slackwater navigation systems for steam-powered vessels, and survives as the most intact system of large hand-operated locks in the United States. Completed 1841 • Designated 2001
Beautiful views and a nice place to get out and stretch you legs here. Nice area. Plenty of parking available. Permission for this cache granted by Mike Jarvis of the Ohio State Park system.
